How do I avoid scams and fraud?
Best practice is to always deal locally. Avoid wire transfers, Money Gram, Western Union, money orders, cashier checks, shipping, cash on delivery (COD), escrow and in some cases questionable third-party brokers.

Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as possible or even for phone verification, by calling the interested party. A good rule of thumb, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is… So again, ask many questions, and do not be afraid to ask for more information.

Buyers: Ask for VIN information, pictures, copy of title or registration, and most importantly remember to always check CarFax.
